Skate Events
YMCA HQ regularly hosts a series of skateboarding events, including workshops and competitions. Up-to-date information pertaining to all skate events can be found under the Events Tab.
The premier skateboarding event on the YMCA calendar is the YMCA Drug Aware Skate Series. Now into its fourth year, the Series is one of Western Australia’s prime amateur skateboarding competitions. All skill levels are invited to participate in the range of divisions. Culminating in an explosive final held at HQ Leederville, the Series travels skate parks around the state with qualifying events in metropolitan suburbs and regional localities such as Denmark and Margaret River. With an amazing array of prizes always on offer, the Series is a hit with West Australian skateboarders who crave such competitions in which to exhibit their skills.
In the 2011/12 season, the YMCA Drug Aware Skate Series will run between November and March, kicking off on November 26 and concluding with the state final on March 9. The Series is proudly supported by Healthway, Drug Aware, Momentum Skate, GMTA Skateboards, Picture Wheels Company, DTA/Rogue Status, Refresh Water Co, City of Cockburn, Town of Bassendean, City of Nedlands, City of Gosnells, City of Mandurah, City of Swan, City of Canning, Town of Victoria Park, City of Vincent, Shire of Denmark, Shire of Augusta-Margaret River and Shire of Toodyay.
